Edward J. Mayeaux, Jr., MD, FACS, FRCS(Ed), has been named Associate Vice Chancellor for Clinical Affairs and Senior Associate Dean for Population Health and Primary Care at LSU Health Shreveport effective June 1. Dr. Mayeaux will see patients at Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport and have a key role in expanding its primary care network throughout North Louisiana as the Director of Primary Care.
In addition to being a School of Medicine alumnus and completing his residency in Family Practice at LSU Health Shreveport, Dr. Mayeaux was previously a Professor of Family Medicine, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the Vice Chair and Program Director of the Family Medicine Department at LSUHS. Since 2013, he has served as the Chairman of the Palmetto Health-USC Medical Group Department of Family Medicine and Chairman of the Family and Preventive Medicine Department at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia.
Dr. Mayeaux is board certified in Family Practice, a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice and the American Board of Preventative Medicine – Clinical Informatics, and a Fellow of both the American Academy of Family Practice and the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology.
