Community Foundation of North Louisiana established the COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund to rapidly deploy flexible resources to nonprofit organizations (specifically those with 501(c)3 designations) in Caddo and Bossier Parishes that work directly with community members affected by the coronavirus outbreak. The Fund will award grants to nonprofits whose operations in support of elders and other vulnerable populations have been stressed by the outbreak. CFNLA encourages institutions, companies and other funders to contribute to the Fund.
CFNLA will work in partnership with the City of Shreveport, Bossier City, and other funders to ensure the Fund has maximum reach and effectiveness. “As the coronavirus is likely in its early stages in North Louisiana, it is imperative that we work together to support our vital nonprofits who will be called upon to increase their capacity,” said Kristi Gustavson, CEO of CFNLA. “As communities experience uncertainty, job loss and the closure of institutions, nonprofits will experience increased caseloads to assist those in need. The fund is designed to give added support to those nonprofit organizations on the front lines of assisting our most vulnerable citizens.”
In addition to contributing to the Fund, the Community Foundation also urges donors and Donor Advised Fundholders to look for opportunities to support the critical needs of nonprofits by making grants to directly to the organizations they wish to help.
Details on how nonprofits might request and access general operating resources from the COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund will be announced at a later date, once donations have begun to accumulate in the Fund.
