Jenkins to lead Senate Democrats

The Democratic Caucus of the Louisiana House of Representatives elected officers this week.

Rep. Sam Jenkins, D-Shreveport, will chair the caucus. Rep. Dustin Miller, D-Opelousas, is vice-chair; Rep. Randal Gaines, D-Laplace, is whip and Rep. Chad Brown, D-Plaquemine is treasurer.

“I’m excited to head this team of proven leaders as we face the challenges of the 2020 session,” Jenkins said. “We will work together to advance core issues like continued criminal justice reform, raising the minimum wage, ensuring equal pay and a redistricting plan that’s fair for the entire state.”

This slate of officers will serve until the start of the 2021 Legislative session.
