Initial unemployment insurance claims rise for week ending Feb. 22

BATON ROUGE – The initial unemployment insurance claims for the week ending Feb. 22, 2020 rose to 1,798 from the previous week’s total of 1,739. For a comparison, during the week ending Feb. 23, 2019, 1,784 initial claims were filed. 

The four-week moving average of initial claims decreased to 1,850 from the previous week’s average of 1,870. 

The unemployment insurance continued claims for the week ending Feb. 22, 2020 decreased to 14,640 from the previous week’s total of 15,057. The continued claims were below the comparable figure of 15,317 for the week ending Feb. 23, 2019. 

The four-week moving average of continued claims decreased to 15,234 from the previous week’s average of 15,449.
