Lanes to close at I-20/I-220 Interchange project in Bossier

by BIZ Magazine

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that intermittent closures of an I-220 ramp, as well as I-20 eastbound and westbound are planned for the purposes of moving equipment across the travel lanes. This is associated with the I-20/I-220 Barksdale Air Force Base Interchange project that is currently under construction in Bossier Parish.

The I-220 eastbound ramp to I-20 eastbound will be closed, along with the I-20 eastbound and westbound lanes at mile marker 27 (near the Racetrack Exit) in Bossier City, will be closed intermittently on Sunday, March 1, 2020 from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Each road closure will last no longer than 15 minutes.

The eastbound and westbound lanes will NOT be closed at the same time.

Additionally, there will be intermittent lane closures on I-20 eastbound and westbound in the same area on Sunday, March 1, 2020 to allow for preparations related to the moving of the equipment across the interstate. These lane closures are scheduled to take place from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. each day.

The I-20/I-220 BAFB Interchange project is extending southward from the existing interstate interchange, creating a new road into the base while easing congestion at other base entrance points and improving security for military deliveries. The entire project is estimated to be complete in Fall 2021, weather permitting.
