The Louisiana Department of Transportation and development is advising motorists of several construction-related road hazards. They are:
TRAFFIC SHIFT: US 80 (Texas Street Bridge), Bossier & Caddo Parishes
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that beginning on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at approximately 10:00 p.m., the westbound inside and eastbound inside lanes of the US 80 (Texas Street) Bridge over the Red River in Bossier and Caddo Parishes will be closed. Traffic will be shifted to the outside eastbound and westbound lanes.
This traffic shift is necessary to allow the contractor to continue work on the ongoing rehabilitation project on the bridge.
The $15.5 million bridge rehab project includes repairs to the steel components, bridge deck, pedestrian walkway & handrails, and the structure is being sandblasted and painted.
The entire project is anticipated to be complete in Summer 2020, weather permitting.
The Texas Street Bridge – also known as the Long-Allen Bridge – was built in 1934, and services approximately 11,900 vehicles per day.
NIGHTTIME LANE CLOSURES: LA 3132 eastbound at US 171, Caddo Parish
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that beginning on Wednesday, February 26, 2020, intermittent nighttime lane closures will be in place on LA 3132 eastbound at the US 171 (Mansfield Road) interchange.
These nightly lane closures will take place at the following times:
Sunday through Thursday: 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
Friday 7:00 p.m. to Saturday 9:00 a.m.
Saturday 7:00 p.m. to Sunday 10:00 a.m.
This work is part of the project to extend the length of the on-ramp from US 171 to LA 3132 eastbound, improving safety and congestion by allowing motorists additional lane length to accelerate as they merge.
As a reminder, the LA 3132 eastbound on-ramp will be closed as the project progresses in order to allow crews to safely and efficiently perform the required work. DOTD will issue a notification in advance of that closure.
The entire project is anticipated to be complete in Spring 2020, weather permitting.
LANE CLOSURE: I-20 at US 80 overpass near Greenwood, Caddo Parish
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that on Thursday, February 27, 2020, the eastbound inside (left) lane of I-20 under the US 80 overpass near Greenwood in west Caddo Parish will be closed.
This lane closure is scheduled to take place from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and is necessary for bridge maintenance. This bridge is located approximately 1.84 miles east of LA 169.
Alternate route: This closure will allow vehicles up to 14 feet wide to pass through the work zone. All larger vehicles must detour to LA 511, LA 526 to I-20.
