The Bossier City Council got an update Jan. 7 on the effort to promote the city and community inside and outside Bossier.
Lisa Johnson, president and CEO of the Bossier Chamber of Commerce, presented the council with statistics regarding their Be Bossier campaign.
The campaign receives funding from the Hotel Motel Tax that is approved through the city council. The chamber received $50,000 for Be Bossier in 2019.
Johnson revealed their digital presence and blog, bebossier.com, has seen significant growth over the past year.
“The blog has gone from 71,000 page views in 2018 to 85,000 in 2019. The really interesting part is that our organic searches on Google that lead to the blog had tripled in 2019 as we continue to build the content. In 2018, the organic searches were at 5,600 and in 2019, over 16,000,” Johnson said.
Johnson said the stats are proof that their efforts to promote the community are working.
“What we are doing is working. And, again we appreciate you trusting us to build this foundation for marketing and branding for our communities,” she added. “This just shows us that if we have a platform out there in the digital world to make sure that we’re telling our story, the good news of what’s happening in Bossier City and Bossier Parish, and that the folks are using it.”
Johnson stated that the focus for 2020 is going to be on people moving to Bossier.
“In 2020, our focus is going to be targeting Facebook and Google ads for people moving to Bossier. We will also be revamping the bebossier.com website and cross promoting it through links to stories,” she revealed. “We know that Bossier is a place that everyone wants to live because we have a great education system, wonderful low crime statistics and we have a government that knows how to work together.”
