Broussard one of first in country certified in Pediatric Hospital Medicine by ABP

Marlene Broussard, MD, MBA, Associate Professor and Interim Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at LSU Health Shreveport, is one of the country’s first board certified Pediatric Hospital Medicine Specialists.

The American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) recently established a procedure for subspecialty certification in Pediatric Hospital Medicine (PHM). The first board exam was held in November 2019.

Dr. Broussard is an alumna of the LSU Health Shreveport School of Medicine and the LSUHS Department of Pediatrics’ Pediatric Residency Program. She is already board certified in General Pediatrics.

Founded in 1933, ABP is one of the 24 certifying boards of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS). The ABP is an independent, nonprofit organization whose certificate is recognized throughout the world as a credential signifying a high level of physician competence.
