Shreveport Regional Airport to add non-stop flights to Florida this summer

Due to popular demand, non-stop flights to Destin, Fla. on Allegiant will be back for the 2020 summer travel season from Shreveport Regional Airport (SHV).

The flights will operate on Mondays and Fridays on Airbus A-320 aircraft, which have 186 seats. This summer was the first time Allegiant offered non-stop flights to Destin and more than 7,200 passengers used the flight during the three months it operated. Tickets are on sale now at AllegiantAir.com and flights start on May 22, 2020.

“We are thrilled that Allegiant has decided to offer non-stop Destin flights again next summer,” said Stacy Kuba, Interim Director of Airports for the Shreveport Airport Authority. “The new route was very well received by local residents and we are thankful for everyone who chose to fly between Shreveport and Destin this summer,” said Kuba.

The May through August 2019 summer travel season at Shreveport Regional Airport was the busiest in 19 years and last month was the busiest September in 14 years. Year-to-date, 505,099 passengers have flown through SHV, which is an increase of 10% or 44,762 more passengers this year than the same time in 2018.

“The Airport Authority’s three-year efforts to get non-stop Destin service have certainly paid off for SHV. With Allegiant offering the flight again next summer, it shows that more residents of the Ark-La-Tex are choosing to fly from Shreveport Regional Airport,” said Waynette Ballengee, Chairman of the Shreveport Airport Authority.

The ultra-low cost carrier will offer non-stop flights to Orlando-Sanford next summer three times a week beginning May 14, 2020. Allegiant will offer a third weekly flight to their year-round Las Vegas service beginning May 27, 2020.

Tickets for these routes are also available at AllegiantAir.com.
