The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) North Louisiana Chapter will honor local philanthropic community leaders at its 28th annual National Philanthropy Day (NPD) Luncheon Wednesday, Nov. 13 at the Hilton Garden Inn, 2015 Old Minden Rd., Bossier City.
National Philanthropy Day is a celebration of philanthropy — giving, volunteering and charitable engagement — that highlights the accomplishments, and all those involved in the philanthropic process, makes to our community.
In North Louisiana, the local AFP Chapter hosts the National Philanthropy Day Luncheon each year to honor our local philanthropic leaders, organizations, and fundraising professionals. It is important to appropriately recognize volunteers and professionals in our community who reflect the true spirit of generosity, leadership, and community.
“North Louisiana, especially Shreveport and Bossier City, is a very philanthropic community. There are many individuals and organizations who give their time, talent, and resources to improve the lives of our citizens. This event salutes the efforts of those who give selflessly in order to make North Louisiana a better place to live,” said Lucy Medvec, National Philanthropy Day Chair of the AFP North Louisiana Chapter.
The 2019 honorees that will be recognized are:
- Dr. Timothy Hart – Outstanding Philanthropist
- Citizens National Bank – Outstanding Philanthropic Organization
- Fred and Melinda Kent – Outstanding Fundraising Volunteers
- The Beaird Family Foundation – Outstanding Foundation
- Jennifer Martin, Shriner’s Hospitals for Children – Outstanding Fundraising Executive
“These organizations and individuals have invested both time and money into non-profits who are moving the needle forward in our community,” said Sarah Ardis, AFP President. “National Philanthropy Day gives us an opportunity to celebrate and honor the impacts each are making in our community.”
