Ten LSU Shreveport students have been approved for Certified Management Accountant (CMA) Scholarships offered by the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA).
The scholarship includes entrance fees for the CMA program; certification exam registration fees; up to three years of membership in the IMA while pursuing certification; and exam preparation materials. The IMA is a professional association for accountants and financial professionals in the business world.
Management accountants often help companies, nonprofit organizations and government agencies manage budgets and investments; create financial strategies; and track taxes. They may work alone or with other accountants and financial professionals.
Nine of the LSUS students who qualified for the scholarship are undergraduate accounting majors, and one is enrolled in the Master of Business Administration program.
Dr. Nancy Albers, Dean of the College of Business, indicated that the university is committed to serving the needs of the accounting industry in the Shreveport-Bossier City area.
“These scholarships provide financial support for achieving industry certification which goes beyond traditional classroom curricula. We are excited that our students have been recognized for their achievements,” Dr. Albers said.
