Toni Thibeaux named Director of Diversity Affairs at LSU Health Shreveport

Shreveport native Toni Thibeaux was recently named the Director of Diversity Affairs at LSU Health Shreveport.

Toni is a multidisciplinary professional holding a degree in clinical laboratory science (CLS) and public health (MPH). Currently, she is a doctoral candidate at Northcentral University, studying Leadership, Higher Education Specialization. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sorority, Inc., and Kappa Delta Pi, an International Honor Society for members who rank in the top 20 percent of those entering the field of education.

Toni has been working in higher education for more than twenty years. She is returning to LSU Health Shreveport following employment at the Louisiana Department of Education, Milken Institute School of Public Health at George Washington University, and Cornell University. She is a founding member of the Master of Public Health (MPH) Program at Cornell University and served in the role of Program Director for the Medical Careers Magnet Program for Caddo Parish Schools. Toni is committed and dedicated to working with programs and organizations that target the college and career readiness of under-represented minority high school and college students. In her position as a Student Services Manager at Cornell University, Toni provided leadership for admissions, recruitment, student misconduct, well-being, diversity, inclusion, and sense of belonging initiatives. Her additional 20-year career strengths include program planning and development, successful grant writing, and practice-based learning.

Toni has also been invited by the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH), American Public Health Association (APHA), and the Federal Housing and Financing Agency (FHFA) to discuss best practices and solutions for closing educational gaps between underrepresented minority and non-underrepresented minority students in America.
