Shreveport Bossier Mini Maker Faire seeking businesses, educators to take part in exposing STEAM to community

The Shreveport-Bossier Mini Maker Faire will bring together science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics (STEAM) along with craft, food, workshops, and performance at the Shreveport State Fairgrounds from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sept. 7.

The Mini Maker Faire is a family-friendly event event that is free and open to the public and creates opportunities for K-12 students to learn more about locally relevant careers, including sectors such as manufacturing, health care, biotechnology, cyber and trades. Visitors also will meet local makers and learn about local career pathways and opportunities for learners of all ages.

A maker exhibit will feature businesses, schools, groups, individuals, and organizations demonstrating what they make and/or how it works in an exhibit space.

Businesses can take advantage by showcasing new innovations or procedures, while colleges and universities can showcase their creativity and innovation. The event is also open to nonprofits and pre-K through 12th grade schools.
