A. Latif Bikak, MD, has joined Willis-Knighton Cardiology where he will specialize in treating patients with advanced heart failure and pulmonary hypertension, as well as transplant and cancer patients who have heart disease.
He also has expertise in mechanical circulatory support, including left ventricular assist devices (LVAD). As the Willis-Knighton Heart & Vascular Institute continues to innovate and drive world-class cardiovascular care in Northwest Louisiana, his skills further support that goal.
Dr. Bikak comes to Willis-Knighton from University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, where he completed a fellowship in heart failure and transplant. Previously, he completed a fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at Jefferson Medical College/Christiana Care Health Services Program in Newark, Delaware. He also served an internal medicine residency at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis after earning his medical degree in his native Pakistan.
“We learn to live with heart failure,” Dr. Bikak says. “So, we develop bonds with our patients. We see them not only in the hospital, but also in the clinic. We get to know them, what they’re like, what their family life is like, what their future aspirations are.” He strives to build strong relationships with patients. “I want them to see me as an instrument who can help them function highly and achieve whatever they want to do.”
