Chef Anthony Felan along with his wife and partner Amanda Felan have announced their next venture. By the end of 2019, their food truck, Fat Calf Boucherie, will become a brick and mortar restaurant, newly named Fat Calf Brasserie.
This unique concept will celebrate the great tradition of French neighborhood eateries. Known for serving shareable plates, hearty entrees, beer, wine, family and friends, brasseries dot the Paris landscape, offering respite from busy city life.
Fat Calf Brasserie will be located at 3030 Creswell Avenue in Shreveport (previously Columbia Café). The restaurant will open following an extensive renovation project which will expand and open the dining area, update interiors, and enhance the kitchen.
“I have always dreamed of owning a rotisserie-based neighborhood restaurant. My culinary training was rooted in classical French techniques so I am excited to showcase that with Fat Calf Brasserie. We are grateful for the kickstart that Red River Brewing and our community have given to our little food truck,” said Chef Anthony Felan.
Not only will the new restaurant feature favorites from the Boucherie but also new offerings from a newly installed rotisserie such as duck leg confit, leg of lamb, and porchetta. The menu also includes French-inspired Southern classics including roasted chicken and confit potatoes, steak frites, and a variety of roasted vegetables like Chef Anthony’s popular Brussel sprouts and cauliflower. Fat Calf Brasserie will also offer a full bar with a hand-selected beer and wine list designed to complement the menu. As they always have, the Felans plan to highlight Louisiana traditions and local food sources. Fat Calf Brasserie will be open most days for happy hour and dinner in addition to weekend lunch and brunch.
“Shreveport-Bossier has invested so much in us, we will continue to support local and work within our neighborhood. Fat Calf Brasserie will be the perfect place to hang out with friends, wind down after a long day, or come for a nice date or family dinner. We certainly wouldn’t be here without the continued support and enthusiasm of our community,” said Amanda Felan.
Fat Calf Boucherie will remain open through August and the Brasserie’s grand opening will occur later in 2019. While the new location undergoes renovations, Chef Felan and Amanda plan to continue catering and private dinners. The duo will also continue their wildly popular underground dining experience, 2nd Act Supper Club, which brings small groups together to eat spectacular food in amazing secret locations throughout Shreveport-Bossier.
