Patients facing an immediate medical issue and needing to be seen in an urgent care setting quickly will now be able to get those needs met with the June 17 opening of a new CHRISTUS Velocity Urgent Care at 2703 Beene Dr. in Bossier City.

“We provide exceptional care for urgent medical problems, occupational medicine and primary care medicine when patients can’t be seen quickly by their primary physician and for those wanting to avoid long wait times in the emergency room,” said Ken Miller, M.D. “We realize about seventy percent of those patients going to the emergency room could be seen in another setting. Our goal is to be that setting where convenience and compassion will always come first. We’re excited to expand into the Bossier City to meet the needs of a growing community.”

CHRISTUS Velocity Urgent Care offers easy access and direct referrals to primary care providers, imaging services, specialists and other hospital or clinic services that patients may require. With on-site X-ray, imaging and laboratory services, CHRISTUS Velocity Urgent Care is able to treat almost any routine illness or injury.

“We are here for patients when they cannot get in with their Primary Care provider or if they have a non-life-threatening illness or injury and they want to avoid the long waits and expense of the Emergency Department,” said Dr. Miller. “CHRISTUS Velocity Urgent Care employs emergency room experienced physicians and mid-level providers with Emergency Room experience. Our entire team is prepared and ready to handle all urgent care needs.”

CHRISTUS Velocity Urgent Care has locations at 7045 Youree Drive and 9300 Mansfield Road, Suite 110 in Shreveport and at 2151 Airline Drive, Suite 700 in Bossier City. Each Velocity Care location is open from 8:00 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The new location in Bossier City, La will hold the same schedule.

“CHRISTUS Health is committed to providing our community with increased access to health care,” explained Isaac Palmer, Chief Executive Officer, CHRISTUS Shreveport-Bossier Health System. “The growth of CHRISTUS Velocity Urgent Care is another example of our efforts to meet that demand and deliver high quality health care, at a more affordable cost, in the most growing corridors of our community.”
