Sabrina Handal, Centenary College senior communication major and Spanish minor, has been selected as the William Michelet Scholarship Award Recipient for 2019 by the Public Relations Association of Louisiana (PRAL).
Howard was presented a $1,000 check at the PRAL Northwest Chapter meeting held May 2 at Wine Country Bistro.
Handal, who is from San Pedro Sula, Honduras, plans to attend graduate school for a master’s degree in advertising this fall.
“I am beyond grateful to be given such an honor by PRAL,” said Handal. “It is so rewarding to see my calling for advertising and public relations being recognized by a professional organization. This award will definitely help me on my journey through graduate school.”
Handal is Vice President of Public Relations for the Centenary Activities Board and has been working within Centenary’s Marketing Department for two years. She is a member of Centenary’s Iota Gamma chapter of Chi Omega, serves as a Resident Assistant. Additionally, she is active on campus media, serving as president to the Centenary Film Society, a writer and photographer of the Centenary Conglomerate, a graphic designer in Pandora Design and a radio show host on KSCL 91.3FM.

The William Michelet Honorary Award is annually presented to a full-time, undergraduate student majoring in public relations or journalism. Michelet, founder of PRAL and an LSU professor, gave back to the community through his work in the public relations field. In his honor the award is given to an individual who also exhibits proficiency in the field of public relations and a strong desire to give back to the community.
