Steven Bailey, MD, has been appointed Chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine at LSU Health Shreveport, effective April 1, 2019.
Dr. Bailey comes to Shreveport from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, where he was a tenured Professor of Medicine and Radiology, and Chief of the Janey and Dolph Briscoe Jr. Division of Cardiology. He specializes in Interventional Cardiology and Cardiovascular Disease.
Dr. Bailey received his Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Oregon and received his medical degree from University of Oregon Health Science Center. He completed an internship in medicine, residency in internal medicine, and cardiovascular fellowship at Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center in Aurora, Colorado.
Dr. Bailey is a past President of the Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, and is currently the Editor in Chief of the SCAI’s official publication, Catheterization and Cardiovascular Inventions. He is a Master Fellow of SCAI, Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, as well as a member of the Association of University Cardiologists, the Association of Cardiology Professors, and the International Andreas Greuntizig Society.
