Dr. Keith White, professor of Clinical Surgery and director of the Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery and vice chairman of Surgery, has been named Chairman of the Department of Surgery at LSU Health Shreveport.
Dr. White’s previous experience includes serving as the Chief Medical Director for Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at St. Frances Medical Center in Monroe for 10 years, as well as Chairman of St. Francis Medical Group Board of Directors for six years. He is currently serving as the Chairman of the Physician Compensation Committee, a member of the Promotion and Tenure Committee, and on the Board of Directors for the Center for Cardiovascular Diseases and Sciences.
Dr. White received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the School of Medicine in Shreveport, followed by a categorical General Surgery Residency at the University of Missouri Health Sciences Center. He completed his General Surgery Residency at LSU Health Shreveport under former Chancellor John C. McDonald. Dr. White continued his training as a research associate in the Artificial Heart Research Lab at the University of Utah’s Institute of Biomedical Engineering, and completed a Cardiothoracic Surgery Clinical Fellowship at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.
