BATON ROUGE — Today, Gov. John Bel Edwards announced his appointments to several Louisiana higher education boards. These higher education appointments will be official on Jan. 1, 2019.
Gov. Edwards appointed Shreveport resident Sam Gilliam to the Board of Supervisors of Southern University and Agricultural and Mechanical College.
The Board of Supervisors of Southern University and Agricultural and Mechanical College is vested with the responsibility for the management and supervision of the institutions of higher education, statewide agricultural programs and other programs which comprise the Southern University System.
Gilliam was appointed to the Board of Supervisors of Southern University and Agricultural and Mechanical College. Gilliam is a Salesman and Associate at Woodley Real Estate and formerly served as Interim Chancellor of Southern University at Shreveport. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Southern University and a Master of Education degree from Louisiana State University. He will serve as a representative of the 4thCongressional District.
