Sci-Port Discovery Center is slated to re-open the Space Center and Planetarium on Thursday, October 18.
To celebrate this re-opening, the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce and the Bossier Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon cutting ceremony at Sci-Port on Thursday at 3 p.m.
Guest of Honor Mayor Ollie Tyler will be in attendance to welcome visitors and open the doors for a public viewing.
While there is still work ahead, Executive Director Dianne Clark is pleased to be able to begin offering live science demonstrations and planetarium shows once again. “We have been unable to provide educational experiences for middle school and high school students for some time. It will be thrilling to see the school buses pulling into the parking lot for field trips again soon.”
On Oct. 18, general admission pricing will increase to $12 per person and will include access to POP, the Space Center, the Planetarium, exhibits and all live demonstrations. Patrons can purchase a 10-admission punch pass for $100 which will be good through December 31, 2018. Memberships for 2019 will be available in mid-November—just in time for Christmas shopping. The admission for an IMAX Dome movie will remain $12 per person.
