Three forums. Three different locations. Three different topics.

To increase public awareness and engagement in the upcoming election, the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a series of three mayoral forums in October.

The “Your Shreveport. Your Vote” initiative is aimed at providing the opportunity to better inform voters by digging deeper into important issues with each mayoral candidate just before early voting begins.

“We want to provide the citizens of Shreveport with more information on the important issues facing our community than is often possible in a single, one-hour forum,” said Dr. Timothy J. Magner, president of the Chamber. “And we want to provide the candidates with a better chance to explain their specific plans for the city should they be elected.”

The forums will be held on three consecutive nights beginning Tuesday, Oct. 16 at Louisiana State University Shreveport in the University Theatre. The forum will begin at 6:30 p.m. and focus on leadership.

The second forum will be held at 6:30 on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at Centenary College in Anderson Auditorium. It will focus on city operations and administration.

The final forum will be held on Southern University at Shreveport’s campus in Jackson Hall on Thursday, Oct. 18. It will begin at 6:30 and focus on city finance.

These events are free to attend, but due to limited seating, registration is required. To register, please visit www.shreveportchamber.org and click the “Your Shreveport. Your Vote.” Photo in the center of the homepage.
