City of Shreveport to host job fair and training for contractors

The City of Shreveport will host two events next week that will offer residents greater opportunity for better jobs and training on how to become a general contractor.

“We want to make sure our citizens have opportunities and the necessary training to secure a good quality of life and these upcoming events will help them to do that,” said Mayor Ollie Tyler.

A Job Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, July 19 at the Municipal Auditorium, 705 Elvis Presley Ave. This event is open to the general public. Governmental agencies and area companies will be seeking candidates for open positions. Some companies include: Teleperformance, Calumet Specialty Products, Omni Specialty Packaging, Ternium USA, Hyundai Glovis, Western Global Airlines, and General Dynamic Information Technology.

A workshop entitled, How to Become a General Contractor, will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 20 on the second floor at Government Plaza, 505 Travis St. Individuals interested in this event should contact Karen Barnes at (318) 673-5060 or email her at Karen.barnes@shreveportla.gov.
