Shreveport Chamber to host second MPC town hall

MPC slated to provide responses from first town hall discussion, site planning process to be addressed

The Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce will be hosting their second town hall discussion with the Shreveport Metropolitan Planning Commission and the local builder/developer community on May 17 at 1 p.m. at University Theatre at LSUS.

The second town hall is designed to address the Site Planning Process, as outlined by the MPC. Many local developers have expressed concern that the process is too lengthy, often hinders project completion or adds additional financial burdens to their client. MPC Executive Director Mark Sweeney will also be presenting the MPC’s response to the issues brought forth by developers at the first town hall.

“I’m looking forward to hearing what changes are in the works for our builder-developer community in response to their initial feedback,” said Dr. Timothy J. Magner, president of the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce. “The focus of the Chamber is to be a business advocate, and we believe that this kind of collective action is an important first step toward getting our industry professionals the help they need to grow Shreveport. My hope is that the feedback the MPC receives on the Site Planning Process will be just as fruitful for both parties.”
