CommCare names COO, VP of Finance, new board member

CommCare Corporation, a Louisiana-based, non-profit that operates 12 skilled nursing facilities has named Eddie Gardner as Chief Operating Officer, Jon Goux as Vice President of Finance, and Dr. Patricia Prechter to the Board of Directors.

Gardner has been with CommCare for nine years and previously served as Senior Vice President of Operations.

“Under Eddie’s leadership CommCare has recorded substantial improvement in the overall quality of services available to our residents and his is outlook for the future of long term care is visionary.  His stepping into the role of COO is therefore, both natural and well merited”, said CEO Jim Tucker.

Gardner earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Louisiana Tech and has worked in skilled nursing and rehabilitation operations his entire career.

“In my career in senior and post-acute healthcare services, there have been many changes in the profession,” says Gardner.  “The services and scope of our practice have changed significantly.  While skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities still provide traditional senior care services, company-wide we transition 65% of our customers to their primary residence.  We are building state of the art facilities that support goals, needs and expectations of those we serve and we focus on honoring choice and person-centered care in our organization.  I am inspired by both our dedicated employees and those we serve.  I look forward to leading our team to continue our journey innovate the way skilled nursing and rehabilitation services are offered.”

Goux began his career at CommCare in 2010 as a financial analyst and was promoted to Director of Operations Finance in 2014.

“Jon Goux plays an integral role in the organization’s strategic investment decisions and oversees budgeting, debt compliance, revenue cycle management and the financial performance,” said Gardner.  “He developed the company’s first budgeting and financial reporting processes, played an essential part in obtaining financing for new projects, and developed financial training and performance measures for facility administrators.”

Goux received a master’s degree in business administration from the E.J. Ourso College of Business at Louisiana State University and a bachelor’s degree in finance from Louisiana State University.

“I am very mission driven,” said Goux.  “I am eager to be a part of the team that continues to ensure CommCare fulfills its mission – to be an innovative leader in the development and delivery of quality health care services, and to be committed to a learning environment that attracts and develops dedicated care givers.  My contribution is to ensure our organization has the financial resources to do things like build state of the art facilities that meet the needs and expectations of those we serve and to provide education and training, technology and equipment that enable our employees to perform their jobs to the very best of their abilities.”

Dr. Prechter, BSN, MSN, EdD currently serves as Dean of the University of Holy Cross’s College of Nursing and Allied Health, having served as Associate Dean for Professional Studies, Associate Vice President and Dean for Academic Affairs, Interim Provost and Provost.

“Dr. Prechter comes to Commcare’s Board of Directors, not only with clinic knowledge and experience, but with a history of service to her community and to her country,” said Tucker.  “In addition to the many community organizations to whom she has lent her time and talent, Dr. Prechter served for more than 29 years as Deputy Commander of Louisiana’s National Guard’s Medical Command and State Chief Nurse, and she also served our state during Hurricane Katrina as chief nurse at The Superdome.  We welcome Dr. Prechter and the knowledge, experience and spirit of service that she will bring to CommCare Corporation.”
