56th Annual ADDY Awards set for Saturday

The American Advertising Federation of Shreveport–Bossier will bestow awards to the area’s greatest advertising creatives Saturday at the 56th Annual American Advertising Awards.

The event will be held at ArtSpace in downtown Shreveport with a cocktail hour beginning at 6 p.m. and awards program to follow.

Every year, AAFSB invites students and professionals in the areas of graphic design, web design, videography, photography, copywriting and the like to submit their best work from the previous calendar year for consideration in the ADDYs.

Winners will be announced Saturday night at the awards ceremony and will find out if they won a gold, silver or bronze award. Winners who receive a gold in the competition are forwarded on to compete at the district level against creatives from the entire state of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and half of Louisiana. If the entry wins at the district level, it will then be forwarded on to the national competition.

This year, there were 126 professional entries and 31 student entries. Judges from the Dallas market reviewed the entries and scored each entry individually. Entrants in a category with just one entry are not guaranteed to win. Everything is judged on its own merit.

“Shreveport has an immensely creative talent pool of professionals and students,” commented Erin Smith, 2017-2018 president of the American Advertising Federation of Shreveport-Bossier and director of marketing, communications and public relations for the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce. “Each year, we see more and more depth and innovation in the designs submitted to the ADDYs. The talent showcase of our region is awe-inspiring.”

“This event is a great way to see the talent in our marketplace and recruit young, innovative designers to your company,” said Amy Jones, 2018 ADDY Chair and executive designer at Romph and Pou Agency. “Our company has been able to recruit some talented designers after seeing their work at the ADDYs. The student designers of Northwest Louisiana are top-notch.”

The American Advertising Awards are the industry’s largest and most representative competition, attracting over 40,000 entries every year in local AAF Club competitions across the nation. The mission of the American Advertising Awards competition is to recognize and reward the creative spirit of excellence in the art of advertising.
