Junior Achievement of North Louisiana will host a return on investment showcase featuring volunteer and student recognition for participation with Junior Achievement of North Louisiana in conjunction with Give for Good Tuesday, May 7, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Shreveport Convention Center, 400 Caddo St.
In 2012, the first annual JA ROI Showcase: Volunteer & Student Recognition was held to show the community what JA does and why they do it.
Junior Achievement gives young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their future, and make smart academic and economic choices. Volunteer-delivered, relevant, hands-on experiences give students knowledge and skills in financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship. JA programs help students make a connection between what they learn in school and demonstrate how these lessons can be applied in their own lives. JA enhances the relevance of their classroom learning and increases their understanding of the value of staying in school.
At the JA ROI Showcase, attendees will experience firsthand the power JA’s mentor-led lessons gives to young people, kindergarten through high school. The Junior Achievement Return On Investment Showcase also gives the opportunity to share “what we do and why we do it” and is a great way to show our appreciation to those who support JA.
This energizing experience is mission focused, as well as an introduction to prospective JA volunteers. By understanding the connection between education and success, whether it be college or career, students begin to see how being financially stable before they start their own family, how saving for unexpected expenses, and how ordering their lives for success can be the difference between lifelong opportunity or a life of tragic poverty. Financial literacy and education is key to building a successful life, a loving home, and is indicative of a bright future.
